Navteq digital map data is being offered in the US with predictive road speeds, potentially helping application developers to offer products that incorporate more accurate estimated delivery windows, arrival times and travel times.

The company has introduced this feature in association with LandSonar, a company which, over the past three years, has been collecting billions of open and proprietary historic GPS and sensor observations to develop a highly accurate predictive capability. It claims to be the first in its field to market full-coverage forecast traffic data products to commercial, consumer and government customers.
