Plasma tracking display keeps everyone in the know
Following trials of Digicore's C-track vehicle tracking and fleet management system, the Academy of Plumbing, a water industry contractor, says benefits have included a reduction in fleet overheads and improvements in operational productivity. It is now adding ten more vehicles to the fifteen already fitted with the system. With the Digicore system, data on vehicle positions is transmitted direct to the company's base in Harlow, Essex. Unusually, at this point it is displayed to office-based staff on a large plasma screen, so they can all monitor the exact whereabouts and status of the mobile service team. A particular benefit, says the company, is that this has enabled it to manage congestion charge payments more effectively, minimising related costs and fines. At the same time, the system has helped to enhance job response times and customer service levels through improved job scheduling and work allocation. According to company spokesman Terry Rayner: "The C-track system has demonstrated the value vehicle tracking can offer to our business." He also praises the service and enthusiasm received from DigiCore.
