Remote device management over the Web
If you're developing or implementing a mobile solution, and are attracted to the idea of an outsourced, Web-based device management system, then a new system from mobile enterprise solutions specialist Codegate could be what you're looking for. The company's mobilesafeguard system is said allow to IT Managers to deploy, update and manage even the largest mobile solution - and all over the Internet, via a dedicated portal. The solution relies on a program called mobilesafeguard Client, which runs in the background on the mobile devices. This periodically transmits status information to the central mobilesafeguard database. The operation is said to be completely automated and invisible to the user. Data for each mobile device is built up over its operational life, and the database information can be accessed at any time via the portal.
Key elements of the system include a device lock-down utility; asset management; device statistics; active monitor; application manager; vehicle tracking and telematics; simple messaging; and remote application deployment and troubleshooting. If you want Codegate to provide the actual devices as well, it can do that, and particularly promotes the Dolphin range from Hand Held Products.
