TrackStick looks for increased UK presence
Follow Us, the tracking systems specialist, has become premier dealer for the US-developed TrackStick passive GPS unit, or "personal location recorder", and is looking for resellers. Although modest in aspiration, TrackStick has become something of a worldwide phenomenon - perhaps because of its sheer simplicity. It is described as being the size of a large pack of chewing gum (4.1in by 1.2in by 0.87in), yet it incorporates its own GPS receiver and solid state memory - and all for a couple of hundred dollars or so. The latest Pro version has four times the memory of the original device. There is only one user interface button - a feature underlining its ease of use. You can set the frequency of GPS fixes, and also the power mode. Location, speed, time and height data are recorded automatically, and can be downloaded later via a built-in USB port. Power is provided by two AAA batteries, and the weight is just 1.5oz. Among appealing features is the fact that the recorded data can be viewed on low-cost or free mapping such as Google Earth, which gives height as well as location fixes. Follow Us reckons the device is ideal for monitoring shipments, security details and the routes travelled by vehicles. It supplies a weatherproof housing and mounting cradle, which it says make the device very easy to install. The originator is Telespial Systems, but it maintains its Web presence is through its TrackStick site.
