Web-based field service app for small businesses
A Web-based communications solution for small service organisations with field-based operatives has been launched by m-Power. It is called ServiceDesk. It supports multi-way communications between field based employees, central call centre and customers. According to m-Power, it can save 70 per cent on mobile phone bills from day one. The first two modules to be launched are m-Power SalesPro (sales lead and proof of delivery) and m-Power ServiceEvent (field service incident management). Typically, field-based employees use a PDA running various m-Power applications such as job allocation and m-Power TmT (Take me There), which produces automated GPS navigation instructions once a job is accepted. The system also produces status reports on the operative's activities. Orders, activity and reports can all be done via the PDA, which synchronises directly with ServiceDesk in real time. * We know of no connection between this company and mpower, the BT product mentioned elsewhere on this page.
