Mobile traffic info on BlackBerrys now
TrafficTV, the system that brings real-time traffic information to people on the move, is now available on BlackBerry mobile devices through the T-Mobile network at prices starting at 10p per day. The arrangement is the result of a three-way deal involving mxData, the TrafficTV developer, Research in Motion (the BlackBerry company) and T-Mobile. TrafficTV users install a simple application on their Blackberry or other compatible mobile phone device. It provides them with a full interactive map of the UK and live twenty-four hour access to traffic information gathered by the Trafficmaster network, including access to over 500 pictures from closed-circuit TV cameras. Subscribers also gain access to a free Internet members' area. TrafficTV is said to have thousands of subscribers, and is available on all UK phone networks. With the release of the BlackBerry service, it is said to support virtually all Internet-enabled colour handsets.
