One hundred thousand Satamatics users
Satamatics, one of the UK's leading telematics suppliers, says it has just connected its one hundred thousandth individual user, and is seeing an annual growth rate of 43 per cent and a 47 per cent increase in network airtime traffic. Satamatics has special expertise in the more hostile and remote terrains in the world, offering a flexible service that includes location, tracking and communicating with mobile assets, and safeguarding fleets, cargo and personnel. The company owns and operates the only Inmarsat D+ data network, providing high-performance access to the Inmarsat constellation of satellites. The hundred thousandth user was connected via Track 24, a Satamatics distributor with special capabilities in "difficult" parts of the world. It has customers operations in the Middle East (including Iraq and Saudi Arabia), South America, Africa (Sudan, Kenya and Nigeria) and Central Asia (Afghanistan). Tim Grant, chief executive of Track 24, makes a telling point, observing: "There are still huge variations in the reliability of [telematics] solutions. We simply cannot deploy solutions that might not work." Its customers include organisations involved in security, defence, oil and gas, mining, construction and engineering worldwide.
