Tracking could save building services company a quarter of a million
EIC, a nationwide UK-based electrical and mechanical installation and maintenance specialist, says it could be on track so save over a quarter of a million pounds a year in fuel consumption alone, following the implementation of a telematics system across is 160-strong van fleet. EIC provides a range of building services, support and maintenance to projects throughout the UK. The kind of locations it deals with include national supermarket and brewery chains, multi-storey office blocks, high-tech computer suites and aeronautical test facilities. It has chosen Cybit's Fleetstar-Online Web-based vehicle tracking system, and says this has brought a variety of benefits. For instance, it has enabled managers to optimise real-time and historical reporting to maximise fuel economy and validate time sheet processing. The predicted fuel cost savings amount to £274,000. The real-time visibility of vehicles also enables the company to do "actual versus planned" activity monitoring of engineers in order to enhance productivity. Some operations involve rapid response (in as little as two hours) to meet time-critical service level agreements, and the tracking system helps the company to identify the nearest engineer assists to each incident. EIC has over 600 staff, who work from a network of offices to provide local services around the country. It supplies project management, design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, control and data management systems.
