A packaged version of the TrakM8 vehicle tracking system using a Web reporting interface has been launched under the brand name TrakM8 SWIFT (for Simple Web Interface for Tracking). It targets both resellers looking for a ready-made tracking package to offer, and end users looking for a straightforward, affordable tracking solution.

The company says the product has already aroused interest among smaller businesses that might have resisted previous, more complex tracking options. It says the appeal includes accessible user screens, a low contract commitment and ease of purchase.

The price could also be a factor: the company quotes a rate as low as 47p per day for a full GPRS-based solution.

Trakm8 SWIFT allows users to monitor and report on vehicle activities in real time. Time sheets are created automatically, and detailed journey reports are available minutes after each journey ends, showing information such as speed and overspeeding, excessive idling and driving times. There is also a "route replay" feature.

 

The company says Trakm8 SWIFT "will comfortably manage up to fifty vehicles," adding that small end-user customers with five vehicles or fewer can therefore grow with the system.

It adds that resellers likely to be attracted to the system include local, regional and national distributors in commercial vehicle dealerships, private mobile radio resellers, mobile airtime resellers and telematics service providers.
