Workflow management partnership
Cybit and TBS, two of the big names in telematics and field service respectively, have been working together to develop a system incorporating both workflow management and what Cybit is calling MRM (mobile resource management). Among TBS's specialities is tailor-made, integrated mobility workflow solutions, which are said to be particularly appropriate for organisations that require complex transactional information to be passed between ERP systems and the point of capture out in the field. Cybit for its part is one of Britain's best-established suppliers of tracking and location solutions. Cybit says the net result of the joint effort will be systems that combine front-end transaction processing requirements with a mobile workforce solution. It adds that this in turn fully integrates client-specific data collection solutions with Fleetstar-MRM telematics technology. The benefit: accelerated flow of information across the value chain. TBS managing director Steve Reynolds sums up the kind of practical appeal in the system, explaining that the job progression reports produced by its Mobility suite, integrated with live location data from Fleetstar-MRM, "can enable organisations to identify which mobile engineer is nearest to a particular customer, emergency task or job, and ensure that all the relevant documentation is immediately sent through to that worker's PDA." Key features are said to include rapid application development and deployment of complex forms incorporating data, signature and digital images; and standard template based back-office integration with SAP, Oracle and other leading ERP and service management vendors.
