Performance to the fore in VMI analysis
Fleet operators are being encouraged by Minorplanet to get more out of their telematics and tracking systems by analysing performance in much greater detail. To make this possible, the company has added a Performance Manager module to its Web-based VMIgreenlight tracking system. This "takes the system way beyond the simple 'real-time' vehicle location products," in the company's words. It allows fleet managers to examine historical vehicle operational data on the basis of nine key performance indicators. For instance, it is possible to see hours worked at a glance, ensuring compliance with the Working Time Directive. Other highlighted factors include the number of journey stops made by each vehicle, distance travelled, and speeding and idling exceptions. An onscreen display presents headline areas of good or bad performance or non-compliance, displaying these items in red, amber or green. Users can then drill down extract more information.
