RAC Commercial Assistance, the wing of RAC providing breakdown assistance for commercial vehicles of 3.5 tonnes and above, has introduced a new despatch and job management system from the Tranman range to replace what it describes as "an existing out of date system".

The Tranman Service Management system from VT Software Solutions enables RACCA to record breakdown requests, deploy the closest third-party engineer through integration with mapping software, and help manage the incident through to completion. It also manages the recovery of vehicle loads, including those requiring specialist management (for instance, hazardous chemicals, livestock, perishable loads or cash in transit).

The system is designed for a modern call centre environment, providing computer telephony integration, GIS mapping, email, fax and SMS texting, and aims to streamline processes and reduce incident call times.

The Tranman brand has been retained since the days when it was an RAC software product. VT Software is part of Birmingham-based VT Defence.
