Truss Loft saves journey costs with telematics system
Truss Loft, a loft conversion specialist company based in Ripon, North Yorkshire, says it is on track to making savings of £100,000 a year from fitting the Minorplanet VMI telematics system in its tradesmen's vehicles. Managing director Terry Banham says the savings have resulted from accurate reporting of timesheets, reductions in unnecessary overtime, more efficient route planning and reduced fuel consumption. The company uses fifty self supervised tradesmen, and has fitted the VMI tracking a reporting system in many of their vehicles. Following the installation of the system, the company says it can now also provide up-to-date customer reports of a tradesman's estimated time of arrival. The system has also saved the tradesmen from ringing in to base with updates on their location or progress on a job. Terry Banham comments: "Any business owner operating a fleet of any size understands the importance of having an efficient 'on the road' workforce, where vehicles and employee's time are managed effectively." He adds: "If this aspect of your business isn't on the mark, the impact on the levels of customer satisfaction can be huge." Truss Loft is said to be the only national company specialising replacing the wooden roof trusses of modern houses to create tailored loft conversions.
