VTS Tail Lifts, a Hertford-based company specialising in tail-lift breakdown repair and maintenance, has chosen SupaTrak tracking from CMS Global Technologies to help pinpoint the location of broken-down vehicles. The low-cost device provides position updates every minute, helping control staff using a map to "talk" drivers to the precise spot where the vehicle is waiting.

The company says an unexpected benefit provided by the system has been a reduction in London Congestion Charge penalty payments. It has geofenced the charging area, and uses SupaTrak to check whether a vehicle's route to an unexpected call out will take it into the area (and if necessary pay the charge in advance).

SupaTrak comes with a comprehensive reporting function that includes start/stop and historic "snail trail" options, and requires no ties to long-term contracts.
