Buoyant Talecom wins new customers, looks to new markets

Major new developments are planned by mobile applications specialist Talecom, notably in the field of mobile billing, communications reselling and advanced technologies.

'There's both an enterprise B2B element and a business-to-consumer element,' chief executive Jan O'Hara told m.logistics.

'We may have been out of the spotlight for the past year or so, but we've been extremely busy behind the scenes.' The new developments are set for launch this spring, he says.

Whilst they may represent a key focus for the company, O'Hara emphasises that Talecom is also still a strong player in its traditional enterprise mobile applications market. Its Wireless Delivered technology was among the earliest to galvanise the mobile applications and field service markets, and it remains a leading player.

Patient transport is a key application for the company, and recent customers in this sector include South Central NHS Trust and Carillion, which is working with hospitals in the London area.

A recent adopter in another field is Anglian Windows, which has taken a full field service application that includes everything from stock management to payment. And Brewlines has taken a full telemetry-based application for managing mobile service engineers. This includes parts management, job allocation and integrated satellite navigation to guide users between job locations. This project has been mounted in association with Box Telematics and Orange.
