GPS built into Nokia phone
Routing, location and mapping are moving rapidly into the consumer mainstream, as Nokia's new 6110 Navigator mobile phone demonstrates. Launched at this year's 3GSM World Congress 2007 in Barcelona, the 6110 is described by the company as 'a navigation-enabled mobile phone for the mass market'. Arguably its key feature is the inclusion of GPS and AGPS (assisted GPS) location technology, along with integrated maps. Additional maps and content such as traffic information, weather services and travel guides can be purchased online. It is a quad-band 3G model with support for HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) at up to 3.6 Mbps for mobile Web browsing and downloading. The operating system is S60 on Symbian OS. The 6110 continues the trend that has seen a blurring of the distinction between phones and PDAs. Features include a 2 megapixel digital camera, 40 MB of free internal memory and support for microSD memory cards of up to 2GB.
