Minorplanet is steadily extending its capabilities beyond vehicle tracking and into mobile job allocation and management - an initiative reflected in its exhibits at the CV Show at the NEC on 24-26 April.

Two new modules are unveiled at the event - Fleet Manager, which allows managers to schedule and assign tasks to individual vehicles or drivers; and Task Manager, which enables those drivers to pick up assigned tasks on a PDA. Task Manager runs on standard mobile phones.

Both modules form part of Minorplanet's Web-hosted VMIgreenlight vehicle management portfolio, and both are aimed initially at operators of maintenance and service vehicle fleets.

The company says it has now put past troubles behind it. It says the CV Show marks the climax to its most successful year yet, during which it has moved into profit and invested £1.3 million in research and development.
