Mobility enhances lifestyle, but can increase work load
Over half of workers surveyed by mobility solutions company iAnywhere are said to believe that mobile working offers them a better work/life balance. But 71 per cent of mobile workers said that they find that they answer emails and phone calls out of office hours, and feel that their company expects them to be available at these times. Only 8 per cent of respondents said that they switch off their mobile devices at the end of the working day. Email remains a driving force in mobility, iAnywhere says. Fifty per cent of those surveyed said that this was the main reason for their company's deployment of mobile devices. 'Calendaring' (28 per cent) and job scheduling (14 per cent) were also cited. The most popular choices for future deployments were VoIP/Skype functionality (22 per cent), instant messaging (19 per cent) and satellite navigation (15 per cent).
