Palm-sized VoIP handheld from Gotive
A compact, handheld computer with the form factor of a mobile phone - and some of a phone's functionality, too - is on the way from Czech handheld computer manufacturer Gotive. It's much smaller than the company's previous offerings, and is described as equally suitable 'from dusty warehouse to chic boutique'. Judging by advance publicity pictures, it will fit comfortably in the palm of your hand. The company mounted a clever 'teasing' programme in the run-up to the CEBit event in Germany in March, offering tantalising photographs that only partly showed its appearance. So we can't tell you its full feature list or price. What Gotive was revealing in advance was that its new Communicator will have VoIP (voice over Internet) phone capability, plus a direct sunlight-readable display with touchpad and an intuitive 'Navi' keyboard. The processor is Intel's XScale PXA270, the operating system is Windows CE 5.0, and memory is made up of 128MB RAM and 256MB flash.
