Supermarket servicing specialist tracks trucks in real time

Millers Vanguard, a company than provides specialist maintenance services to leading supermarket chains Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Marks & Spencer, has started tracking its service fleet in real time over the Internet, using the Masternaut telematics system.

It says the 'has dramatically improved day to day operations' already.

'Knowing where our vehicles are at any given point in time enables us to respond quickly and with up to date information to requests from our clients,' says Wayne Tiffany, the company's warehouse and transport manager. He says the contribution to lone worker protection was also a factor in its decision to adopt the system.

Millers Vanguard, part of the AGA Group of companies, specialises in the servicing, maintenance and supply of in-store catering equipment to supermarkets. The company operates a nationwide fleet of 120 delivery, service and maintenance vehicles.

These include Volkswagen Caddys for delivering of pre-ordered parts; Mercedes-Benz Vitos and Sprinters for use by the breakdown and service engineers; and larger vehicles, some equipped with Hiab-style lorry-mounted cranes, for the delivery, installation and collection of new and loan equipment.
