Two hours a week wasted in jams
Most company car drivers waste between one or two hours per week stuck in congestion, according to a survey by the RAC Foundation and Company Car Driver; and 20 per cent spend more than 11 days a year sitting in congestion. Forty per cent would welcome greater encouragement of home working, and 25 per would like to see more flexible working hours to help them avoid congestion. Yet the survey found that over half of companies are 'not at all' supportive of drivers taking up flexible working practices such as working from home, online working or using public transport. The survey also revealed that 10 per of company car drivers admitted to have fallen asleep at the wheel - something said to be the cause of around 20 per of accidents on long journeys on trunk roads and motorways.
