Live traffic data has been added to the Map24 Mobile Internet portal, which offers a free route planner and search aid for mobile phones and PDAs (personal digital assistants).

The UK traffic data is supplied by ITIS Holdings.

Mapsolute, the company behind the system, promised this feature at the launch of the mobile version last autumn. It says live traffic data has been popular on the desktop version of its system, and it wanted to extend this to the mobile implementation.

The company has also added the ability to telephone businesses shown as points of interest, simply by viewing an icon and dialling the number shown.
