Push email without a PC
Accessing email from a mobile device is getting simpler all the time - not just on demand, but also via 'push' services (where emails are delivered to the user's device automatically). In one of the latest developments in this field, mobile email specialist emoze has announced an enhancement to its existing push email services in which users need not keep their office computer switched on. Moreover, the company says the service is free to all users - though they do of course need an email account and mobile data account with their network provider. When downloading the emoze system from the company's Web site, users are now given a choice of either using their own PC as a 'connector', or having the email handled by a central emoze server. If they choose the central server, they then need to install emoze mobile client software on their mobile device and enter their OWA (Outlook Web Access) credentials, which are encrypted and stored locally on the device. Future versions will support connections to Lotus Web-access Gmail, Yahoo! mail and other popular email services.
