Symbol is Motorola now
Motorola has wasted no time in pressing ahead with the process of integrating the Symbol product line with its own. The company acquired Symbol, the world leader in rugged mobile computing, last year in a deal valuing it at $3.9 billion, and the acquisition process was completed this January. Already Motorola is describing familiar products such as Symbol MC70 handheld computers as Motorola models, so don't be confused if you find both names attached to them for a while. The Symbol Web site has disappeared, and has been replaced by a section of the Motorola site celebrating the merging of the two businesses. If you want to get straight to the bit of Motorola's extensive web site that relates to all this, add '/symbol' to the Motorola URL. This links to a microsite focusing on the new business.
