Tracking for smaller fleets - with reseller appeal
A tracking system for smaller vehicle fleets (those with five to fifty commercial vehicles) has been launched by TrakM8 under the brand name TrakM8 SWIFT (this stands for 'Simple Web Interface For Tracking'). It is priced at just 47p per vehicle per day, and the company reckons this rate means it breaks with the traditional sales model for tracking equipment by negating the need for users to obtain credit approval or take on a lengthy lease. The system uses a small vehicle-mounted device which feeds back detailed information to Trakm8. Information is then available to users via the Web, and includes standard reports on driver activity, routes taken, overspeeding and similar information. As with previous TrakM8 systems, this one is being offered through resellers, and the company reckons the low cost and ease of use of the system will add appeal for them. One such reseller, ETS Business Solutions, confirms this. According to director Jan Evans, lease burdens have proved a massive obstacle for potential users in the past. 'We've sold more Trakm8 SWIFT units in one month than any other tracking device,' he says.
TrakM8 says it aims to add 16 more resellers to its network by the end of the year.
