A range of new features have been introduced in an updated version of MobiForms, the rapid application development tool for mobile computers and PDAs.

Version 3.12, which is now fully certified for Windows Mobile, includes timers, SMTP email, and commands that dynamically change object attributes at runtime (these could be items such as font colours and sizes).

The Deployment Wizard has also been extended, and now includes more device and operating environment combinations.

MobiForms says recent customers for the system include a US defence repair facility, a UK local authority, a European SAP field service systems integrator and a German telemarketing company. None of these has been named yet.

 

MoboForms supports a variety of computer platforms including Tablet PC, Pocket PC, Windows CE, Windows Mobile, EPOC, Symbian and Palm. Users need not to learn a difficult programming language like Java or .Net.

The company says typical applications would include asset collection, field service, inspection, market research, site surveys, stock control and workshop repair.
