Vodafone bids for corporate mobile applications business
Vodafone UK has launched a bid to attract mobile applications business in the corporate sector, announcing what it calls its Vodafone Applications Service. The objective, the organisation says, is 'to mobilise enterprise applications on to mobile smart devices.' Behind the scenes, the new service runs on Dexterra's Mobile Application Service Platform, an application and middleware platform for telecommunications providers and hosting and managed service companies. This supports a wide range of devices such as BlackBerry, Microsoft Windows Mobile and SmartPhone devices and Nokia Symbian devices. From the outset, the system supports Salesforce.com, Oracle, SAP, Siebel and Remedy. It is delivered, billed and supported directly by Vodafone UK.
