APC orders 900 handheld terminals
APC Overnight, which is said to be the UK's largest independent overnight parcel delivery network, has chosen the Intermec CN3 handheld computer to modernise its tracking and delivery processes. No fewer than 900 of the terminals have been supplied, and are being rolled out as part of a general upgrade of APC's computer system. Previously the company managed its deliveries with a paper-based system. The CN3s will be carried by delivery drivers, and initially they will provide an electronic proof of delivery capability. Later the system's functions will be expanded to include logging vehicle loads, allocating of tasks and dynamic route scheduling. APC says it liked the CN3's ability to link with its new tracking and tracing system.
