Extended-range and smart Symbol scanners from Motorola
Two cordless scanners for intensive activity in arduous conditions have been added to the Symbol range, which is now of course part of the Motorola portfolio. Both models in the new LS3500 range are sealed to IP65 specifications against water and dust and able to withstand multiple 6.5ft drops to concrete. They also include open Bluetooth technology, which is intended to allow easy integration with other Bluetooth-enabled devices such as the company's VC5090 vehicle-fixed mount mobile computer. The LS3578-ER version is an extended-range scanner. It is said to be able to read barcodes as close as 4in and as far away as 45ft. Motorola claims this is greatest working range of any available rugged laser scanner on the market. The LS3578-FZ version features 'fuzzy logic' technology based on advanced scanning algorithms to provide accurate and fast reading of worn, damaged, dirty and poorly printed bar-codes.
