More versatile pay-as-you-go asset tracking
FollowUs, the remote positioning and location solutions specialist, has added new features to Trimtrac, its pay-as-you-go vehicle tracking system. It says the new version, TrimTrac Pro, makes in-vehicle positioning more accurate, cost-effective and feature-rich than before. Most notable is the fact that the unit is now GPRS-enabled, reducing messaging costs. Previously it used SMS texting. In addition, the device can now be connected to an external antenna, so that if can be hidden more safely on the vehicle. With the new technology, the device can report its location continuously or at set time intervals according to the owner's requirements, and users can receive alerts about the device's location on a mobile phone. Trimtrac costs £199, which includes the first 50 tracking instances. Prices for a search now start at 5p. There are no subscription costs. The unit runs on four AA batteries, which are said to last up to 90 days. Alternatively it can be powered from a 12-24v power adapter and switched to 'always on' mode.
