Remote device management from Belgravium
Belgravium is the latest mobile computer manufacturer to launch a remote device management system that can be administered by user-companies. Its RTA system takes the form of a software package that is installed on a standard PC, which can be either on site or in an IT department elsewhere. The system allows operators to upgrade individual mobile device software remotely - whether with 'patches' or with a whole new operating system release. It can provide a mirror image of the mobile device, in which the PC screen displays exactly what appears on the remote mobile device screen. Users can also access the key logging record stored by default on Belgravium devices, and view the output in Excel or similar format. Examples of logging data include battery performance, wireless performance (Wi-Fi or GPRS), operator input errors and usage time. An addition software feature on offer from Belgravium allows the user-company to block access to Windows CE setup menus - preventing mobile operators from adjusting settings such as IP addresses. When this system is activated, the operator is presented with an initial screen that shows only relevant applications and nothing else.
