The VL-Fleet GPS tracking system from VeriLocation is now available with the option of remotely immobilising vehicles at the press of a button. A further innovation is the addition of an independent power source to ensure that the device can keep on working even if the vehicle's electrics are fully disconnected.

The remote immobilisation feature is aimed particularly at operators concerned about vehicle theft, or worried that that vehicles are being used outside working hours. It is operated via a relay switch that is controlled from the company's Web site. It can be activated on an ad hoc basis or set up to work according to pre-set schedules - for instance, at weekends.
