Telent mobilises field service team
Telent, a communications and network services specialist, has chosen Cognito and Oracle to spearhead a field service mobilisation project for its mobile workforce, and says it is expecting to achieve gains in operational efficiency, productivity and customer experience. Telent delivers communication and network services to telecommunications operators, large enterprises and public sector organisations in the UK, Ireland and Germany. The Cognito and Oracle solution was selected over other competitive offerings following a selection process. Key selection criteria included a 'managed service' approach and proven understanding and competence in delivering mobile data and scheduling solutions. The enterprise mobility solution delivered by Cognito combines real-time, automated scheduling and despatch of jobs, resource management, mobile data, GPS tracking and auto-launch satellite navigation running on O2's GPRS network and using O2's XDA mini S handheld terminals. The solution is tightly integrated with telent's Remedy back-office system. It will enable field workers to receive the latest job information and update job status remotely and automatically. The schedule will adjust dynamically to take account of status updates, and will integrate task and location information in real time, directly at the point of action. For telent, a key decision factor was the need to audit all mobile activity continuously - something considered 'an essential foundation' for proactive service-level management.
