A new-generation trailer tracking device has been unveiled by Axscend. Physically compact, the low-profile unit is being marketing as a 'fit and forget' device. Its features include extended battery life, and provision for wireless sensors to be incorporated. This means the device could be connected wirelessly to on-board systems such as trailer doors, whose opening and closing could be monitored and reported back to base.

Axscend offers a range of trailer tracking products including a basic servicing costing just £4.50 per month. It also offers a depot-based tracking system using RFID to monitor the comings and goings of vehicles and trailers. The RFID and GPS systems can also be supplied in combination with one another.

Tracking information is viewed online via a range of on-screen maps and reports.
