Mobile dimension for Vianetic WMS
A mobile dimension has been added to VWMS, the browser-based warehouse management system from Vianetic. Its VWMS-RF system is said to allow all central tasks to be performed using mobile handheld computers. The range of tasks covered by the system includes everything from goods receipt and picking right through to loading and despatch. The company says it enables the system to provide far more dynamic reporting than is possible using a paper-based system - delivering accurate information on the timing and current status of warehouse operations and up-to-date movement tracking information for all stock within the warehouse. VWMS-RF has been implemented using the Microsoft .Net platform, and is designed to operate on a wide range of mobile devices based on the Windows CE and Windows Mobile platforms. It uses 802.11 wireless networking standards and barcode scanner integration to achieve real-time stock updates. Vianetic will be offering VWMS-RF at no additional cost for new VWMS installations delivered for the rest of this year.
