Auto-blanking screen Ôcan help cut fork-lift accidents

Truck-mounted computer terminals from DLoG are being offered with an automatically-blanking screen in a bid to help reduce fork-lift truck accidents. The feature is being incorporated in the company's MPC 6 and IPC 7 models.

Basically the screen can be set to blank out automatically if the truck is in motion or the lift mechanism is being operated. The company says this prevents the driver from being distracted by viewing or using operating the screen while driving - resulting in faster and safer operation.

The screen blanking function can be customised to meet the requirements of different vehicles, and integral software enables a time delay to be selected before the screen switches blank (for instance, for very short journeys). You can also set the minimum stationary time before the screen switches back on.

The optional safety feature will also be available on DLoG's X series terminals later in the year.
