Castle Cement adds task management and POD to tracking package

Proof of delivery and driver management capabilities are being added to the eTicket vehicle tracking system now in use by Castle Cement.

The underlying system is now in use in 252 tractors and 288 trailers operating from 11 Castle Cement works round the UK, and the new features are being rolled out progressively.

Resource utilisation and driver task management capabilities have been developed by Castle itself, while the real-time vehicle telematics and trailer tracking is supplied by Microlise. The package is brought together on XDA handheld terminals provided by Microlise, which run a Microlise application handling task management, proof of delivery, two-way messaging and real-time allocations of jobs.

Vehicles are automatically associated with their correct load and delivery schedule using RFID technology. RFID tags installed on each vehicle automatically collect data and route drivers within the works to the correct silos and weighbridge, using a series of 'go/no-go' lights.

The system records all data events for presentation in daily and weekly KPI reports for trend analysis of driver/vehicle performance and customer service levels. It also issues immediate alerts of an exception to predefined business rules.
