If your speciality is secure storage of documents, it makes sense to track their movements while they're on the way to your storage facility. That was the reasoning behind a decision by The Hill Company, and managing director James Hill says the resultant service, which is being provided by Masternaut, is 'the best thing we've bought in a long time'.

The company provides comprehensive specialised storage and retrieval of business records, wills and deeds and magnetic media for legal and financial organisations. Documents are collected from clients from all over the UK and from offices on the Continent, and are taken for storage at the company's specially designed secure and environmentally controlled building.

Document traceability is a must, and each file is already tracked and traced on site using barcodes. Then by using the innovative Masternaut service the vehicle and driver can be pinpointed onscreen whenever documents are transported.

Now the Masternaut tracking system also allows vehicles and drivers to be pinpointed on screen while they are in transit.

 

Clients can log on to a dedicated area of the Masternaut Web site allowing them to see the progress of their documentation during transit.

James Hill says the system has also brought operational benefits. For instance, the company can now respond to urgent orders by assigning the nearest available driver. 'We can monitor speed and track personal use of vehicles, which has enabled us to save on our fuel bills. And we are eligible for lower insurance premiums.'
