Factory fitting for Asdas Isotrak systems
There's a seasonal flavour to the poppy symbols on these Scania artics, which form part of the first batch of 200 from the order for 1,000 that are being fitted with Isotrak telematics equipment for Asda (m.logistics, last issue). The equipment is being line-fitted at Scania's Dutch factory - an arrangement that is said to have brought benefits in cost as well as convenience for the operator. This approach augments Isotrak's usual aftermarket approach. According to Craig Sears-Black, Isotrak's sales and marketing director: 'We expect to see a rising trend in production-line fitting of telematics and tracking equipment as more and more companies adopt high-tech transport management solutions to help improve efficiency and reduce carbon footprint.'
