Mobile app saves on social housing operation
Moorlands Housing, a Staffordshire-based social housing specialist, says it is saving £60,000 a year as a result of implementing a specialised mobile application from Pervasic. It is also anticipating a productivity increase of 25 per cent within the first 12 months. The company was previously using an intensive paper-based manual system. Jobs would be printed off the system, and left in in-trays for direct labour operatives to pick up. They would take these out on the road with them and prioritise them manually. Under the Pervasic MobileOne Housing Maintenance Solution, operatives no longer need to come into the office to pick up paperwork. Pervasic introduces a real-time information flow, enabling operatives to progress a job and close it down when completed. The 'voids and planned' operatives can view jobs up to a week in advance, and manage their materials ordering requirements. Now Moorlands Housing is extending the project to its back-end ordering systems. Drivers can click on a 'van stock' icon on their PDA to see what they have in stock in the van, and the replenishment requirement is automatically updated on the back-end system. This is reflected in a weekly update to Travis Perkins, its stock provider. The company has also been working on XML interfacing with its ordering system at the back end and moved to e-invoicing.
