More compact Trux terminal from Barcode-IT
A new and more compact truck-mounted mobile computer from Swedish manufacturer Akerstroms Trux is now available in the UK through Barcode-IT. The Tx800 Triton has much in common with the existing Trux 700, including full Windows XP Pro operating system and a range of connectivity options such as Bluetooth, 802.11b/g and Ethernet. However, its compact screen measures just 10.4, which the company says makes it particularly appropriate for fork-lift trucks in which space is limited. It is also light, weighing just 2.9kg, and has a high IP65 rating for resistance to dust and water ingress. The unit is available with a variety of Intel Pentium M or Celeron processors, matched with 512MB or 1GB of memory, and comes with a 40GB automotive specification hard disk. Features also include automatic screen blanking. Akerstroms is a very long-established supplier in this field, and its Trux range of mobile computers is said to be in use on operations by many leading companies including Ford, Volvo, Bentley Motor Cars, BCA Books and SCA Timber.
