Palm-sized GPS unit
If you're looking for a pocket-sized GPS tracker unit without associated airtime contract, you might be interested in a new product from Taiwanese company Cybergraphy Technology, which claims to be one of the biggest suppliers of GPS equipment in its own country. Its GlobalTrack G200P is a palm-sized portable GPS unit that comes complete with its own GSM/GPRS receiver, hidden GSM/GPS antenna, 3G motion sensor and 16MB flash memory module. Standby time is said to be up to two months. The GPS module is one of the latest SIRF-III GPS units, with a 159 dB sensitivity and 20-channel tracking. If you want to go one better, the G200X version also includes embedded microphone and speaker, and supports two-way voice mobile phone-based communications. The company says the device can be integrated with the user's own mapping, or can make use of its own Globetrack Webmap service, which is powered by Google Earth. Cybergraphy also produces a wide range of other GPS products.
