SimplyTrak adopts Mapsolute mapping

Background mapping from Mapsolute has been added to the vehicle tracking system supplied by SimplyTrak, which claims to be one of the UK and European leaders in its field.

Maps showing vehicle locations are now downloaded from the SimplyTrak Web server as required. Previously the mapping used by the system was resident on users' PCs, but according to managing director, David Coleman: 'We wanted to provide a dynamic Web-based solution to offer customers a wider choice of how they used the system.'

He adds that the change has enabled SimplyTrak to respond better to a growing demand from organisations wishing to track more than just vehicles. SimplyTrak's proposition is to allow customers to track vehicles, assets and people.

The mapping behind the system is Mapsolute's MapTP product, a vector (scaleable) map dataset that is a client-server based solution, which means a single server can power mapping clients viewing over the Web, via a back-office application and on mobile devices. The technology is also platform-independent, and allows user-organisations to add real-time map layers to standard map data such as traffic information and their own points of interest.

Simplytrak says it provides solutions to a broad range of customers, including corporate fleets, local authority services, emergency services, transport businesses and security/surveillance businesses, as well as for lone workers.
