Telematics supplier launches bid for field service space

The dividing line between telematics systems and field service solutions is getting thinner all the time, and one of the strongest indicators of this so far comes with the launch of a new field service-oriented product from Aeromark, a long-established name in telematics.

Aeromark's Otpimatics system aims to combine conventional vehicle tracking with work flow optimisation, field service management and job scheduling solutions. These additional functions can be provided either by Aeromark's own systems or by existing third-party products.

The various data feeds are brought together in what the company is calling Smartdash - a graphical user interface and reporting tool. This is designed to allow organisations to view the assembled data, gaining improved visibility of their mobile workforce and opportunities to reduce operating costs, optimise productivity and increase customer service levels.

Smartdash uses what Aeromark terms advanced geospatial algorithms to reconcile real and planned performance, allowing users to drill into operational information in real time. As examples, the company mentions vehicle departure time, arrival time, length of stop, action taken and fuel consumption. Aeromark says the package can more than double the typical return on investment achieved with conventional tracking systems.
