Trimble throws down the gauntlet with competitive tracking offer

Trimble, one of the longest-established names in GPS and tracking technology, has given a European launch to a range of fleet management solutions branded TrimWeb and GeoManager.

The company says these applications are designed to monitor and improve fleet efficiency, which they achieve by providing users with a real-time view of their vehicle locations through maps and flexible reports.

They harness a variety of the company's monitoring, mapping and reporting tools, as well as wireless communications, messaging and automated workflow.

Pricing for TrimWeb, a Web-based application, starts at a very competitive 71p per day including service, hardware, warranty and installation. GeoManager adds extra features such as more extensive reporting and real-time alerting.

Following its acquisition of @Road, a supplier specialising in field service automation and mobile task management, Trimble has been drawing together the elements of its existing and new resources and placing increasing emphasis on joint marketing and Trimble branding. The GeoManager, for example, is actually an @Road product.

Internationally, Trimble is a long-standing supplier of GPS and wireless hardware as well as software and systems, and produces an extensive portfolio of products for markets such as surveying and satellite communications.

The net result of its recent moves in the UK is that Trimble now has a much more visible presence here as a tracking systems supplier, with a growing range of products to support its drive to build up its market position in this sector.
