A formal launch has been given to the CX Mobile communication and job management system from Transport Exchange Group, the parent company of The Courier Exchange (the online freight exchange service).

The system has been under development for some time, and is in fact already in use with operators. It was featured in m.logistics, issue 31 in our profile of the company.

The service is aimed at small carrier and courier businesses where operators may need to manage their business whilst on the move. It gives full access to the Courier Exchange service, allowing owner-operators to receive and confirm bookings electronically whilst on the road.

Each courier carries a standard GPRS-enabled PDA, which can be dashboard-mounted for convenience, and the system uses 'push' technology to ensure that only the information required is transmitted to the driver. Drivers can managing all their active accounts, capture and remit PODs in real time (with signatures), post return journeys and goods to move on the system, and receive bookings in real time.

 

The service is run for Courier Exchange on a bespoke basis by mobile systems specialist Momote.
