IT support company streamlines with real-time scheduling

a&o, a Europe-wide IT support services company, says that by installing a wireless field force management system and adding dynamic scheduling to this it has gained the ability to schedule the work of its field force automatically, and amend the schedule in real time to reflect its changing work load.

The system it has chosen uses software by 360 Scheduling. The company says its integrated Dynamic Scheduling Engine will bring efficiencies and greater control to its field operations.

a&o says it was prompted to introduce the new system by increasing levels of complexity in its market, combined with stiffer service level agreements and significant growth. It took a decision to mobilise the field force using modern wireless communications, and this in turn opened up the opportunity to introduce full dynamic scheduling.

This can take account of real-time inputs from the field in order to update schedules progressively through the day, shifting resources as required if engineers log on late, or overrun their work or travel, or when a crucial SLA is in jeopardy.
