Low-cost GPRS roaming
A European Union-wide GPRS 'roaming' rate of just £4 per month plus £1.50 per megabyte of data traffic has been announced by Tariffman, a UK-based network capacity reseller and mobile SIM card supplier. The company adds that there is no session charge for the service, and that the data traffic rate is applied per byte. It says other suppliers tend to charge per kilobyte, and some continental operators charge per 10 kilobytes. Tariffman says that users paying standard GPRS tariffs for international roaming can sometimes find themselves paying up to £12 per megabyte. The new rate applies across the EU, and the company says a similar deal is also available for travel in the United States and Mexico.
