Archiving handheld from Nordic ID

Nordic ID has come up with handheld computer called the PL3000 HF Library, whose primary use is in archiving books. But it also has a role in fulfilment and logistics, since it's designed for archiving data of any kind.

It's based on the existing PL3000 HF, and can read data from barcodes and RFID tags, both of which are common identification systems in libraries and other archive systems. Users can write directly on to tags (read/write distance is up to 30cm), updating information conveniently on site. It can also be linked to a wireless network via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

The device incorporates a flexible swivel antenna optimised for fast and accurate reading of barcodes and tags from shelves, whether high or low.

It has an ARM 9 processor and runs Windows Embedded CE 6.0. Memory is 128 MB SDRAM and 32 MB flash. Features include a touch screen, adjustable backlight and power-save functionality.
