Distributors to handle Psion Teklogix mobile sales
Mobile computers from Psion Teklogix are to be supplied through distributors and resellers in future, rather than direct to customers. This includes the iK(tm)n PDA launched by the company late last year. Psion has always used resellers as well as the direct route, but says this dual system was causing confusion. In effect the company was missing potential sales, and sees this move opening up new doors for its increasingly desirable equipment. Mobile sales director Darren Williams says there was a perception 'among some end users and resellers' that there were inconsistencies in supply and a lack of structured pricing. 'So we have listened and we have evolved.' As part of the restructuring process, Psion Teklogix has appointed York-based Varlink a distributor for its range of mobile terminals. Psion praises Varlink's 'outstanding e-commerce Web site'. Blackroc and Ingram Micro have also been appointed distributors. Psion says it will continue to sell other supply-chain products direct to users, including vehicle-mounted computers, barcode scanner/readers, speech recognition products and RFID solutions.
